With so much of this ministry about building relationships, overcoming the communication and cultural barriers in Thailand is vital. So taking the advice of several missionaries, one of my initial focuses will be learning the Thai language, which will in turn help me to understand the culture and the needs of the people on a more personal level. Having already pursued the tonal Akha Hill tribe language 5 years ago, I recall the joy of being able to have growing conversations with the people and building meaningful relationships. Although learning Thai will be a challenge, I know overcoming it will result in many blessings through friendships, times of fellowship, and the sharing of the gospel in more effective way. And let’s not forget with my amazing future wife being Thai, there will be plenty of motivation for me to learn quickly too.
