We are very thankful for all the prayers and blessings that have filled our lives this summer. A number of our recent highlights included a great team of our friends from Georgia. They took great care of us when we visited them last November and we were looking forward to returning the favor. They were also joined this year by 4 clowns from Malaysia and Thailand. We definitely had a full schedule with the team going into multiple village schools, a bible school and a few churches throughout Mae Hong Son and Chiang Mai. There was plenty accomplished too with multiple ESL lessons, bible teaching, clown training and shows, medical check-ups, block parties, game & crafts, and a construction project at Grace Home. It was more than just activity though as the team practiced what they preached as they lived out the gospel and impacted many lives.
Certainly one of the highlights was baptizing Mary and Mark from Grace Home. Still brings a smile to my face to see the fruit of the Gospel and to be a part of what God’s doing here! May God bless them as they grow in Him.
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” – NUMBERS 6:24-26 (NIV)
As a direct result of the team trip, I was invited by my Thai clown friends to participate in the first annual Thailand Clown Festival in Bangkok. It was especially meaningful for two reasons. The first was because of the 2 Thai clowns, in response to joining the trip to Mae Hong Son and experiencing the love and ministry of the team, opened their hearts to Jesus and prayed to receive Him. And as a way of expressing that new joy and life in Jesus, they purposed for this festival to be a testimony to what God did in their lives and is doing in the lives of the Grace House kids and villagers along the border. God is truly moving and is impacting the world around these new believers by their sharing their testimonies to all their clown friends too. Praise God!
Raising awareness and support at the Thailand Clown Festival in Bangkok
One last highlight to mention here happened recently when we were visiting our friend Nuan and her family. As we were having fellowship, she invited her Shan neighbor, Bua Kam, to come join us. Bua Kam told us she’s only 17 years old but is 5 months pregnant and her husband works a lot. She often feels she’s under spiritual attack and lives in a lot of fear and asked for help. With such an opportunity as this, we shared the gospel of Jesus with her and how He came to destroy the works of satan. As we explained sin, repentance and faith in God, she admitted she too had sinned and couldn’t get rid of it herself. She needed a savior, to which she joyfully confessed Jesus as Lord and Savior, and prayed for forgiveness. Praise God for His grace!
What was also of encouragement was Nuan, who was only recently baptized in June, being active in her faith and being a testimony of God’s goodness. May we all live in such a way!
“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”
