Grace House & Ministry Highlights
As many of you know, Tiff and I travel to her home town of Mae Hong Son every month because of the Grace House children home there. February was no different. But instead of just the 2 of us, we welcomed back a team from Oklahoma to minister in the surrounding villages and schools. As it turned out, Dting, one of Tiff’s old university classmates, was also in Mae Hong Son and wanted to see her. She was on holiday but there was some ‘stuff’ that needed to get worked out too. So we invited her to come join us for dinner. To make a long story short, after dinner and the team’s nightly devotion, we had the joy to pray with Dting to receive Christ as her Lord and Savior. This was an especially sweet moment for Tiff as she saw her friend of many years come to know Jesus. Praise the Lord!
“Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!”
– Luke 15:6 (NASB)
Continuing on from the first night with our friend Dting, the team had a very impactful week. We ministered in 3 villages with a church service and children’s ministry with lots of activities, English lessons, songs, games, and crafts with over 150 kids. We even had a chance to share with over 20 kids from a Burmese village as they were allowed to cross the border to visit us.
Activities in a Rak Thai Village, Long Neck Village and Grace House
It was such a blessing for me to see the students’ reactions as they remember this team from last year and how these relationships just continue to grow. Bringing the gospel and the love of Christ never returns voids!
A definite highlight for all of us was our time in the village school at Ping Nam Din along the border with Burma. This village turned out to have a mix of Long Neck Karen, Big Ear Karen and Shan. It was also our first time in the village. After a full day of English lessons, sports training and crafts, the team had some time to share why they came, what Jesus has done in their lives, and His love for the students. A very precious opportunity was when we had a chance to pray for the kids and lead them in prayer to know Jesus. Please be praying we will continue to have opportunities to follow up and that lives would be changed eternally.
“Let the Word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”– Colossians 3:16 (NASB)
Tak Trip
One last highlight occurred on a recent trip to Tak province to minister to the Karen along the border. After attending a local wedding in Lay Tong Ku and meeting with different churches in the area, our team had a chance to share with the believers at Saw Mat. It was a wonderful time of fellowship for us, sharing words of encouragement, dramas, and worshiping together. It’s truly remarkable how God can unite His people together. This was followed by visiting a family we met last year that received Christ and asked for prayers for protection from spirits. Though this visit was only a short stay, God was clearly involved as one of the oldest daughters asked to receive Jesus into her heart too.
