“Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer anticipates the precious fruit of the soil as he patiently awaits the fall and spring rains.” – James 5:7
With the seasonal rains in full swing now, we are seeing the fields planted with different crops and others entering into their harvest season. Some are in their proper growing phase while we also see new seasonal fruits hitting the market. I think this is also a good analogy for us as we have had a welcomed return to ‘normal’ personal lives as well as seeing new growth and new fruit in ministry.
A big reason for our return to normal life is that Tiff’s health is doing much better. While she isn’t 100% yet, she was able to increase her food intake resulting in higher energy levels and a more functioning life. We do thank God and all of you for your precious prayers and many words of encouragement through this long trial. Thank you!
We also had a special guest as our dear and talented friend Deaw came with his clown troupe and performed in Chiang Mai. He has joined us on several trips to Grace House and has helped in this ministry on several occasions.
One of the greatest joys, and of most precious fruit, is to see kids from Grace House make a commitment to follow Jesus. This past month we had four girls call on Jesus to receive Him as Lord and Savior. A lot has happened in each of their lives since they have been at Grace House and it’s been incredible to see their joy and to know how much they not only overcame to get to this point. Praise the Lord!
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.” – John 1:12-13
We also shared a special time with Elizabeth and UN, the house parents at Grace House, who have served so faithfully over the last 3 years. They have been a huge blessing to the kids and to us as well.
They too have entered into a new season of life as UN is now studying at a bible school in the Philippines. He and Canaan, who just graduated high school while staying at Grace House for the last 5 years, are going deeper in their studies because they both want to serve the Lord and know Him more and more. A Special Thank You to those who gave scholarships for this life changing experience to become a reality.
A few more highlights included our kids putting on special dramas, playing games, and having special times of fellowship and worship together.
Pa-Oh & Shan Ministry
We have been continuing to serve the Pa-Oh and Shan groups around Chiang Mai, in partnership with the Pan Rak Foundation and our local church.
As we have been able to meet more regularly with several of the different groups, we have continued our mission to build and prepare others for the mission field as active servants. We currently have two families going through a discipleship program where they also get hands-on training in ministering to others.
Unfortunately, the visa and work permit laws and regulations for these groups have been changing, from both the Thai side and Burmese side. As a result, several of group have mentioned it is very difficult to reside in Thailand and they are planning to move back to Burma within the next year. This is bittersweet as we obviously don’t like the hardship they experience or their leaving yet we do see it as an opportunity for them to return to their home areas and share the gospel to new groups. So please be lifting them up in your prayers for wisdom and guidance.
“The Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.” – Psalm 147:11
May God bless you all!
