“Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” – Acts 2:46-47
Ministry Highlights
Pa-Oh & Shan Ministry
The past few weeks we were able to meet up again with some of the Pa-Oh from different work areas. About 15-20 of them have run into problems with a Thai company that hasn’t paid their fair salary. Currently the boss has told them he is getting the money but doesn’t have it yet. While a little delay isn’t a big thing, migrants often are told the same thing and never paid. So please be praying for wisdom and justice in this situation with our fellow believers.
One result of the work issues has been some have moved back to their previous areas making it a lot easier to visit with them. Just this past month we were presented opportunities to share the gospel with a relative of the group and another Shan lady. Both have been very open and have said they believe what we have shared but do not understand everything. Below are some photos of are cell groups. We ask for prayers for fruition of the gospel and further growth among the believers.
Bible Studies and Fellowship in the Work Camps in Chiang Mai
Grace House & Mae Hong Son
In August, we joined the kids at Grace House in celebrating Mother’s day. It was such a touching time as it was so apparent how important family is and the special role that mothers play in every life. It was especially moving when the kids who had lost their moms to various sicknesses inside Burma paid honor to the house mom Elizabeth for all the care she has provided over the years. We are so thankful for Elizabeth and the opportunity to love our kids in life impacting ways.
Celebrating Mother’s Day at Grace House
One thing that we will miss about her is that she would often share her testimony and the gospel with the other kids around her. Just this week we had a few kids state that Canaan was there to encourage them and help them better understand the bible.
One challenge Canaan and many of our kids will face to achieve the goal of going to a university is finances. With Canaan’s dad being sick often and her mom passing away last August, and herself being a refugee, she does not have much support. With that said, we are looking for partners in providing scholarship funds for the opportunity for an even brighter future.
“May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ.” – 2 Thessalonians 3:5
We also had the kids draw pictures of their villages, homes, themselves, and share about their lives. Some of them had grown up in the refugee camp and so that was home to them while some even called Grace House home. One thing we are encouraged by is that everyone recognized many things and people in their lives for whom they are grateful. I hope this challenges us all to be more thankful regardless of the situation.
Sharing their Stories through Drawings
In celebrating the passing of school tests and doing a good job with their school work, we also had several games and activities for the kids. Again, their favorite game seems to be bingo as it has the biggest prizes and everyone wins. But we also had songs, worship, dramas and more. There were also donations provided by some of our church members from Chiang Mai.
Gifts, Games and Singing at Grace House
We again had opportunities to join the Christian villagers for Sunday service. There are only a few Christian adults in the village but like us, they need a place to come together. They have a few of the villager kids join every Sunday too. One great thing is all in attendance seem to get involved through sharing, praying, singing special songs, or teaching. The older teens also able to serve in the Sunday school to further their growth and help the little ones learn.
Gifts, Games and Singing at Grace House
This coming month we’ll have a team from World Race come join us once again. They will be helping at Grace House and teaching English in the village school for about 3 weeks. Please lift the whole team up in prayer for their travels and their stay.
